Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year at Kilgore Intermediate School!  I am excited to be the KIS principal and have the opportunity to work with the awesome KIS team, students and parents!

I graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelors of Business Administration in Management and Accounting.  After moving to Kilgore, I returned to college and graduated from the University of Texas at Tyler with a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education.  I completed my Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from UT Tyler.

My education experience includes Garland ISD as a 6th grade reading and social studies teacher and Kilgore ISD as a 4th grade teacher, assistant principal at Chandler Elementary, and principal at Kilgore Intermediate School. 

As an educator, I believe all children can learn and it is our responsibility to provide a standard of excellence to ensure all students are successful.

I am married to Craig Slayter, a CPA, and we have four children and three grandchildren.  My hobbies include reading, spending time with my family, and watching sports.
